Jochen Sieck joined Merck in 2014 as a lab head. In January 2024, he was promoted to global director of cell culture media R&D, with teams in Shanghai, Lenexa, St. Louis, and Darmstadt. His group develops catalog as well as custom cell culture media for biological manufacturing processes producing monoclonal antibodies, vaccines, viral and gene therapies, and more. A hallmark of his team’s R&D activities is close collaboration with customers in the global biopharma industry.
