General description

Research area: Cell signaling

Research Category: Metabolism Research

Subcategory: Obesity

Protein Target: CK1γδ

Target Sub-Family: CK1

Casein Kinase 1δ (CK1δ ) is a serine/threonine kinase that belong to the family of casein kinase 1. The protein structure consists of anti-parallel β-sheet strands at N-terminal lobe (N-lobe) and α-helices and loop structures at the larger C-terminal lobe (C-lobe).

Metabolic Disorders

Biochem/physiol Actions

Casein Kinase 1δ (CK1δ) is implicated in multiple cellular processes, including membrane trafficking, cytokinesis, circadian rhythm, and tumorigenesis. It interacts with critical molecules within cancer-related signaling pathways, such as Wnt/β-catenin, PI3K/AKT, and Hedgehog. Therefore, mutations or overexpression of the CK1δ coding gene can potentially contribute to the onset and progression of cancer.
