General description

A radiello diffusive sampler consists of 3 parts: the diffusive body, the adsorbent tube, and the triangular support plate. For personal air sampling, a vertical adapter can be installed. The adsorbent cartridge is removed from its glass or plastic storage tube and is inserted into the diffusive body. This is then threaded onto the triangular support plate in order to place the sampler in its sampling position.
The triangular support plate acts as both a closure and means of suspension for the Radiello diffusive body and cartridge adsorbent during passive air sampling. Each support plate is threaded for easy diffusive body attachment. Each plate includes a clip and transparent adhesive pocket to hold the Radiello barcode label.

Protocols

Protocol for radiello® Diffusive Air Sampling Application - Nitrogen and Sulfur Dioxide

The adsorbing cartridge is formed by a micropore polyethylene tube filled with silica gel coated with 4,4’-dipyridylethylene and closed, at one end, by a PTFE cap. Upon exposure, acid-catalysed ozonolysis of 4,4’-dipyridylethylene leads to 4-pyridylaldehyde.

Volatile organic compounds are trapped by adsorption and recovered by thermal desorption, analysis is performed by capillary gas chromatography and FID or MS detection.
