Application

Hanks′ Balanced Salts may be used when working with stem cells or when growing cells at low densities. Also, it may be used to minimize cell attachment or aggregation, and for the preparation of external bathing solution and wash solution.

Quantity

Formulated to contain 9.5 grams of powder per liter of medium.

Reconstitution

Supplement with 0.35 g/L sodium bicarbonate.

Other Notes

The pH is adjusted after addition of sodium bicarbonate. Investigators who work with stem cells or cell clones frequently prefer media without phenol red.
