Derived from a trypsinised suspension of pooled caudal portions of the trunk of one year old fingerlings. Will grow at temperatures from 15°C to 33°C. Cells susceptible to lymphocystis virus of fish and tadpole edema virus (TEV) of frogs.

EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) (pH7.4 - 7.5).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:4 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 23°C. A replication capacity of up to 50 passages is expected. Fish cell lines detach easily during transit if the culture is too young. After resuscitation, split cells
