Gene Information

human ... RAD51(5888)

General description

RAD51 (RAD51 recombinase) belongs to the RecA/RadA/Rad51 protein family. It has a conserved ATP binding core. This protein is expressed in testis, ovary, and lymphoid tissue. It is located on human chromosome 15q15.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human RAD51 around the phosphorylation site of Tyr315.

Immunogen Range: 281-330

Application

Anti-phospho-RAD51 (pTyr315) antibody has been used in western blotting.
Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.

Biochem/physiol Actions

RAD51 (RAD51 recombinase) plays a major role in homology-directed repair (HDR) and cell viability. This gene acts an an important target for cancer therapy. RAD51 interacts with BRCA2 (breast cancer susceptibility protein) and participates in DSB (double strand DNA breaks) repair.
