Clone 2D19 is a ZooMAb® rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects Mitofusin-2. It targets an epitope within 21 amino acids from the cytoplasmic domain in the C-terminal half.


KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 21 amino acids from the first cytoplasmic domain in the C-terminal region of human Mitofusin-2.


Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HeLa cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected Mitofusin-2 in HeLa cell lysate.

Tested Applications

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Mitofusin-2 in U2OS, COS-7, and PC12 cell lysates.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative detected Mitofusin-2 in HeLa cells.

Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound Mitofusin-2 peptides with a KD of 1.4 x 10-7 in an affinity binding assay.

Anti-Mitofusin-2, clone 2D19 ZooMAb®, Cat. No. ZRB1202, is a recombinant Rabbit monoclonal antibody that specifically targets Mitofusin-2 and is tested for use in Affinity Binding Assay, Immunocytochemistry, and Western Blotting.

Target description

Mitofusin-2 (UniProt: O95140; also known as Transmembrane GTPase MFN2) is encoded by the MFN2 (also known as CPRP1, KIAA0214) gene (Gene ID: 9927) in human. Mitofusin-1 and 2 are highly homologous mitochondrial proteins that display ~80% similarity in humans. Mitofusin-2 is a multi-pass membrane protein that serves as a mitochondrial outer membrane GTPase to mediate mitochondrial clustering and fusion. It is ubiquitously expressed at low level, but higher expression is observed in heart and kidney. It consists of a large, cytoplasmic N-terminal GTPase domain, followed by a spacer, a first coiled-coil heptad-repeat (HR1) domain, a spacer, two transmembrane domains that cross the outer mitochondrial membrane, a spacer and a second, C-terminal heptad-repeat domain (HR2). Between HR1 and transmembrane domains, it contains a proline-rich domain that participates in protein protein interactions. Mitofusin-2 plays a key role in mitochondrial metabolism and is involved in mitochondrial fusion, trafficking, turnover, contacts with other organelles, and in the clearance of damaged mitochondria via selective mitophagy. Mitofusin-2 is phosphorylated by PINK1 and the phosphorylated form functions as a receptor for parkin that mediates its ubiquitination, a signal to mark damaged mitochondria. It is also required in the control of unfolded protein response upon endoplasmic reticulum stress. Mitofusion-2 knockout cells display mitochondrial spheres or ovals of different sizes and are several folds larger in diameter than wild-type. Mutations in MFN2 gene are known to cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease that is characterized by signs of axonal degeneration and progressive distal muscle weakness and atrophy. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Purified recombinant mouse monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.


300 μg/mL after reconstitution at 25 μL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.

Storage and Stability

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 μL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
