General description

Clone 1N2 is a ZooMAb® Rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects 2′-5′-oligoadenylate synthase 1 (OAS1). It targets an epitope within 17 amino acids from the N-terminal half.


KLH conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 17 amino acids from the N-terminal half of human 2′-5′-oligoadenylate synthase 1 (OAS1).


Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in lysate from HeLa cells treated with IFN- .

Western Blotting Analysis (WB): A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected OAS1 in lysate from HeLa cells treated with IFN- .

Tested Applications

Enzyme Immunoassay (ELISA) Analysis: Various dilutions from a representative lot detected OAS1 in ELISA applicaiton.

Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound OAS1 peptide with a KD of 1.4 x 10-6 in an affinity binding assay.

Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected OAS1 in Human small intestine tissue sections.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected OAS1 in HeLa cells.

Target description

2′-5′-oligoadenylate synthase 1 (UniProt: P00973; also known as EC:, (2-5′)oligo(A) synthase 1, 2-5A synthase 1, E18/E16, p46/p42 OAS) is encoded by the OAS1 (also known as OIAS) gene (Gene ID: 4938) in human. OAS is an interferon-induced, dsRNA-activated antiviral enzyme which plays a critical role in cellular innate antiviral response. It is frequently detected in nasal epithelium of healthy individuals and displays antiviral activity. It is involved in the synthesis of higher oligomers of 2′-5′-oligoadenylates (2-5A) from ATP which then bind to the inactive monomeric form of ribonuclease L (RNase L) leading to its dimerization and subsequent activation. Activation of RNase L then leads to degradation of cellular as well as viral RNA, resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis and termination of viral replication. By activating RNase L, it potently inhibits severe acute SARS-CoV-2. Its C-terminal prenylation (isoform p46) is shown to be essential to initiate a SARS-CoV-2 block. The prenylated form is targeted to perinuclear structures rich in viral dsRNA, whereas the non-prenylated form (isoform p42) is diffusely localized and is unable to initiate a detectable block to SARS-CoV-2 replication. OAS1 also has antiviral effects that are independent of RNase L. OAS1 also plays a role in other cellular processes, including apoptosis, cell growth, differentiation, and gene regulation. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals. Physical form

Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.


0.3 mg/mL after reconstitution at 25 µL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.

Storage and Stability

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
