Gene Information

human ... NOTUM(147111)

General description

NOTUM encodes palmitoleoyl-protein carboxylesterase. In human chromosome, the gene NOTUM is localized on 17q25.3.

Immunogen

NOTUM antibody was raised against a 19 amino acid peptide near the amino terminus of human NOTUM.

Application

Anti-NOTUM antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunostaining.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Notum is involved in the progression of colorectal cancer and its expression levels is higher in metastatic cells. Notum is one of the pain associated genes.

Features and Benefits

Evaluate our antibodies with complete peace of mind. If the antibody does not perform in your application, we will issue a full credit or replacement antibody. Learn more.

Target description

In Drosophila, the notum gene is regulated by the Wingless pathway and encodes a secreted hydrolase that modifies heparan sulfate proteoglycans. The mammalian homolog has been shown to be able to cleave glypicans and can release GPI-anchored proteins from the mammalian cell surface. Like the Drosophilia NOTUM, the mammalian protein can act as a negative regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway. NOTUM is expressed at a low level in most mammalian tissues, although it is overexpressed in a subset of human hepatocellular carcinomas. Its transcription is regulated by β-catenin/TCF and is a target of the Wnt signaling pathway, forming a negative feedback loop that regulates the expression and activity of the Wnt pathway.

Linkage

The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP3500082.

Physical form

Supplied at approx. 1 mg/mL in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
