General description

Ammonium acetate exists as a white crystal. It is prepared from acetic acid and ammonia by neutralization to pH 7.0. It is widely used in analytical chemistry, drugs and in textile dyeing.

Application

Ammonium acetate has been used to prepare eluents for UPLC-MS/MS and HPLC-MS/MS to compare the matrix effect of 9 pharmaceutical compounds in aqueous environmental samples. It has also been used as an additive to improve detection of phosphopeptides using MALDI-MS.
