Gene Information

human ... ALK(238)

General description

The anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene codes for a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) that has 1620 amino acids. It is a member of the insulin receptor superfamily and is usually expressed in nerve cells. ALK gene is mapped to human chromosome 2p23.2.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human ALK around the phosphorylation site of Tyr1604.

Immunogen Range: 1570-1619

Biochem/physiol Actions

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) has the ability to trigger Stat3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 3) and rescue hematopoietic cells from cell death.Mutations in ALK-1 result in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), an autosomal dominant disorder of localized angiodysplasia.
