General description
Tween 20, also referred to as poly(oxyethylene)n-sorbitan-monolaurate, is a non-ionic surfactant. It is mainly used in membrane research.
Application
Tween 20 is used for:
- solubilizing membrane proteins during isolation of membrane-protein complexes.
- a subsequent protein detection by UV light absorption, due to its low UV absorbance.
- ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) and immunoblots.
Quality
Purity: <2 ppm peroxide content (as H2O2), <200 μM carbonyls, <100 μS conductivity. Specially purified for membrane research.
Physical form
10% (w/v) aqueous solution under nitrogen, supplied in injection glass bottles.
Preparation Note
Working concentration: >10 mg/mg membrane lipid
Other Notes
For life science research only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
