General description

Phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5) is a commonly used drying agent. It is a component of Eatons reagent, which is commonly used as a catalyst for dehydration reactions.

Application

Phosphorus pentoxide may be used in the synthesis of the following:
  • Hydroxyapatite (HA) sub-micron fibers.
  • Fluorescent carbon nanoparticles (FCNPs).
  • Bistetramethylammonium (TMA) hydrogencyclotriphosphate and rubidium cyclotetraphosphate using dimethyl sulfoxide as a solvent at low temperature condition.
  • Ethylene glycol methacrylate phosphate (EGMP), a UV-reactive phosphonic acid.
