General description

VO-OHpic is a vanadium complex. VO-OHpic might act as a possible pro-senescence anti-cancer drug for treating cancers with reduced phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) expression. It blocks cell viability, cell proliferation, colony formation and induced senescence-associated β-galactosidase activity in Hep3B cells.

Application

VO-OHpic trihydrate has been used in studying the role of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) in polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2)-mediated apoptosis. It also has been used as a PTEN inhibitor to study the neuroprotective effect of melatonin in amyloid beta (Aβ)-induced neurotoxicity via PTEN pathway.

Biochem/physiol Actions

VO-OHpic trihydrate is a PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome 10) inhibitor.
