General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for waste prevention when used in cellulosic ethanol research. For more information see the article in biofiles.

Application

1,4-(1,3:1,4)-β-D-Glucan 4-glucano-hydrolase, or cellulase, has been used in a study to examine supra-molecular structural features of cellulose during enzymatic hydrolysis using CP/MAS 13C NMR spectra in combination with line-fitting analysis.

Unit Definition

One unit will liberate 1.0 μmole of glucose from cellulose in one hour at pH 5.0 at 37 °C (2 hr incubation time).
