Ascentis® Express Columns

Ascentis® Express HPLC and UHPLC columns feature sophisticated Fused-Core® particle technology to provide improved performance, including high-resolution separations and faster analytical times. These columns offer increased sensitivity and throughput, making them suitable for both small and big molecule separations. Their unique design reduces diffusion route length, leading in sharper peaks and higher resolution, which is especially useful for complex mixtures and high-throughput applications.

BIOshell™ HPLC and UHPLC columns are optimized for efficient and fast biomolecule separations. These columns use superficially porous particles (SPP) with pore diameters up to 1000 Å to effectively separate big biomolecules like monoclonal antibodies and complex proteins. The BIOshell™ columns offer superior peak shape, resolution, and sensitivity, making them ideal for high-performance proteomics and biotherapeutic drug discovery.

Purospher® STAR HPLC and UHPLC Columns, made of 99.999% ultra-pure silica, provide optimal performance throughout a wide pH range (1.5 to 10.5). These columns ensure consistent peak symmetry, making them suitable for the separation of a wide range of chemicals, including basic, neutral, and metal-chelating species. They are ideal for high-throughput, dependable, and reproducible chromatographic separations because to their exceptional stability in 100% aqueous mobile phases.

Discovery® HPLC columns offer a broad range of stationary phases, engineered to give different selectivity for efficient method development. Designed for pharmaceutical analysis, they are also suitable for a wide range of reversed-phase HPLC applications, delivering great performance and reproducibility across complicated sample matrices. The Discovery® range includes chemistries such as C18, C8, Cyano and Pentafluorophenylpropyl (F5)— tailored for difficult separations and to produce outstanding peak shapes with high sensitivity.

Discovery® BIO columns are designed for effective separation of proteins, peptides, and small biomolecules in reversed-phase HPLC. These columns have large pore diameters and three unique phase chemistries (C18, C8, and C5), providing unrivaled selectivity, stability, and reproducibility. Their low-bleed, inert surface chemistry makes them perfect for sensitive LC-MS applications, with constant performance throughout analytical and preparative scales.

Ascentis® HPLC Columns are designed for maximum efficiency, retention, and selectivity, making them extremely useful for small molecule separations. These columns use high-purity type B silica, to ensure inertness, repeatability, and stability in a variety of applications. With a wide range of bonded phase chemistries, Ascentis® columns produce consistent, high-quality results, even for the most sensitive trace-level tests.

LiChrospher® HPLC columns are available in a variety of bonded phase chemistries on spherical Type A silica particles, including polar and non-polar modifications, making them appropriate for a wide range of applications. These columns offer a proven suitability in thousands of applications and validated methods.

Using 4 µm spherical silica particles to obtain around 100,000 theoretical plates per meter, Superspher® HPLC Columns are made to provide elevated separation efficiency for Type A silica particles. These columns are especially fit for sophisticated mixture analyses needing high peak capacity. The wide range of possible modifications, including non-polar (RP-8, RP-18) and polar derivatives (Si 60), ensure adaptability and exact separations in a variety of applications.

For decades, LiChrosorb® HPLC columns have been a cornerstone in chromatographic separations. These columns use porous, irregular silica particles (Type A) in 5 µm and 10 µm diameters to achieve uniform and reproducible separations for various applications. LiChrosorb® columns are available in a variety of variations, including non-polar (RP-8, RP-18) and polar (Si 60, Si 100) phases, making them useful for both normal and reversed-phase chromatography.

SUPELCOSIL™ HPLC Columns include high-quality silica-based stationary phases (Type A) and can accommodate a variety of chemistries, particle sizes, and column configurations. These columns are regularly cited in established methods, therefore they are a reliable choice for both routine and specialized HPLC applications.

CHIROBIOTIC® HPLC columns are designed with covalently linked macrocyclic glycoproteins on high-purity silica gel to provide remarkable stability and selectivity for chiral separations. These columns excel in separating enantiomers using multiple mobile phase modes, including reversed-phase and normal-phase, making them a versatile solution for complicated chiral analysis in the pharmaceutical, environmental, and food industries.

Using cyclodextrin bonded phases to generate inclusion complexes with a wide range of organic compounds, CYCLOBOND™ Columns are specialized for chiral separations. Offering high-performance and repeatable separations with increased selectivity and stability, these columns are perfect for resolving enantiomers in pharmaceuticals and other chiral uses.

Made from porous graphitic carbon (PGC) particles, Supel™ Carbon LC HPLC Columns provide unmatched stability at extreme pH levels (1–14) and temperatures up to 250 °C. These columns are suited for preserving and separating polar chemicals under reversed-phase conditions, using a novel Polar Retention Effect on Graphite (PREG) mechanism for effective separation of difficult analytes.

Column Hardware—Cartridges, Cartridge Holders, & Ready-to-use Columns

To offer maximum flexibility for your HPLC applications, our Purospher® and Purospher® STAR, along with LiChrospher®, Superspher®, LiChrosorb®, and ChiraDex® HPLC columns, are available with a variety of hardware options. Additionally, Purospher® STAR 2 µm and 3 µm UHPLC columns come equipped with Hibar® HR column hardware, offering pressure stability up to 1000 bar.

LiChroCART® cartridges provide exceptional flexibility in customizing column dimensions to meet your analytical needs. Designed for compatibility with Merck’s reusable manu-CART® end fittings, they facilitate quick and straightforward adjustments in cartridge length and internal diameter.

Exchanging LiChroCART® cartridges is effortless since the manu-CART® cartridge holders remain in place, eliminating the need to disconnect capillary connections. Transitioning between lengths of 75 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm and 250 mm is seamless. Additionally, you can easily modify the internal diameter (4.6 mm, 4 mm, 3 mm, or 2 mm) to suit your application in just a few minutes. The end fittings are engineered to allow for hand-sealing of LiChroCART® cartridges at standard working pressures (up to 250 bar) without requiring tools; only at higher pressures might additionally tightening with a wrench might be needed. The manuCART® holder allows the direct integration of LiChroCART® 4-4 guard columns without the need for an additional pre-column holder.

Hibar® RT is a conventional, ready-to-use HPLC column featuring threaded ends for attaching reducers for capillary connections.

Pre-columns are generally connected to the main column using capillaries. When the column is depleted, it can either be refilled (as long as aggressive eluents haven't led to corrosion or damaged threads) or disposed of. However, refilling the column without revising the tubes poses challenges in terms of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), as each column has a unique history and requires different pretreatment for each new application.
