Application

Various concentrations of Deoxyribonucleic acid, low molecular weight, from salmon sperm has been used:
  • to study DNA binding to silicon-substituted hydroxyapatite nanocrystals.
  • in simple electrochemical DNA biosensors to detect and evaluate DNA damage caused by UV-C radiation and reactive oxygen species.
  • as a precursor in the synthesis of the bio-dots.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Salmon sperm DNA is often used as a blocking agent invarious research applications. It isknown to improve the specificity and sensitivity of the multi-AP assay byreducing non-specific binding and background signal.
