The possible neuroprotective effect of etomidate against streptozotocin-induced (STZ-induced) hyperglycaemia were investigated in the rat brain and spinal cord. Etomidate treatment demonstrated neuroprotective effect on the neuronal tissue against the diabetic oxidative damage

General description

Etomidate is an imidazole derivative, which functions as an nonbarbiturate hypnotic agent. It is used in speech and memory test. Etomidate regulates hemodynamic stability by preserving sympathetic outflow and autonomic reflexes. It inhibits adrenal steroidogenesis.
