General description

Strontium carbonate is a weak base widely used as a starting material in the manufacture of glass cathode ray tubes, colorants in fireworks, phosphors for electroluminescent devices, superconductors, and various Sr-based compounds. It can also be used as a cocatalyst in photocatalytic composites, to expand their photoresponsive range.

Application

Strontium carbonate can be used as a precursor to:
  • Fabricate ceramic composites for n-type thermoelectrics such as SrTiO3–TiO2.
  • Prepare SrCO3/SrO systems for thermochemical energy storage application.
