General description

Alternative-splicing factor 1 (ASF-1), also known as SRp30a or SF2, is a member of the highly conserved family of SR proteins, a group of serine/arginine-rich domain-containing proteins that play a critical role in regulated and constitutive splicing of precursor mRNA. The SR family of proteins is characterized as having one to two RNA recognition motifs located in the n-terminal sequence, and an RS domain within the C-terminus that is rich in serine/arginine dipeptide repeats. ASF-1 has an inhibitory role in exon skipping, in order to maintain splicing accuracy and to monitor alternative splicing. Studies have shown that ASF-1 plays a role in the regulation of caspase-9 alternative splicing as well as being a critical component for ceramide to function as a mediator of alternative splicing for the same caspase.

Immunogen

This Anti-ASF-1 Antibody, clone AK-96 is validated for use in western blotting, IP & ICC for the detection of ASF-1.
Western Blotting Analysis: 1.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected ASF-1 in 10 µg of Raji and HepG2 cell lysate.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected ASF-1 in BJ fibroblast cells (Fregoso, O., et al. (2013). Mole. Cell. 50:56-66).
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated ASF-1 in BJ fibroblast cell lysate (Fregoso, O., et al. (2013). Mole. Cell. 50:56-66).

Nuclear processes such as transcription and RNA maturation can be impacted by subnuclear compartmentalization in condensates and nuclear bodies. Here, we characterize the nature of nuclear granules formed by REST corepressor 2 (RCOR2), a nuclear protein essential for pluripotency maintenance
