Gene Information

human ... ANXA1(301)

General description

Annexin A1 (ANXA1) is a calcium and phospholipid binding protein almost entirely restricted to microglia in the CNS. During the peripheral inflammatory response, Annexin A1 is instrumental in the phagocytosis of apoptotic leukocytes. Annexin A1 restores the ability of microglia to differentiate between apoptotic and non-apoptotic cells during inflammatory activation. Current research is geared towards using Annexin A1 as a therapeutic target in neuroinflammation. Annexin A1 has also been shown to be influential in cancer development and proliferation.

Immunogen

Full length recombinant protein corresponding to human Annexin A1.

Material obtained from the National Cancer Institute’s Clinical Proteomic Technologies for Cancer (CPTC) program

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A previous lot was used by an independent laboratory in IH. (http://antibodies.cancer.gov/antibodies/detail/CPTC-ANXA1-2)
