General description

Furfuryl alcohol belongs to the furan class of compounds.

Application

Furfuryl alcohol has been used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of furfuryl alcohol in:
  • Transformer or rectifier oils by solid-phase extraction (SPE), liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) equipped with variable ultraviolet (UV) detector.

It may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of furfuryl alcohol in:
  • Coffee samples by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography (GC) coupled to flame ionization detector (FID) as well as mass spectrometry (MS).
  • Jukro tea samples by simultaneous distillation-solvent extraction (SDE) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
  • Electronic-cigarette refill solutions by GC coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) operating on electron impact (EI) mode.

Coffee samples by HPLC coupled with diode array detector (DAD).
