General description

Poly(dimethylsiloxane) [PDMS] is a polymer. It is a stable silicone rubber. It has been used as ion selective membrane for ion-sensitive field-effect transistors, as spring material in accelerometers, elastomer on a tactile sensor and as flexible encapsulation material in decouple sensors.

Application

It was used in a study performed to understand its molecular weight and molecular weight distribution by off-line coupling of GPC with MALDI mass spectrometer.
Poly(dimethylsiloxane) is found to be highly compatible with organic solvents and is used for fabricating microfluidic devices..
