General description

Aluminum oxide (Al2O3), also known as alumina. It is commonly used in various rubber, plastics, ceramics, and refractory materials for reinforcement hardening. It can also be used as a filler or component in polymer or inorganic composite materials, as a catalyst or catalyst support, as an adsorbent, etc.

Application

Aluminum oxide is used as
  • Filler for plastics and a common ingredient in sunscreen and many cosmetics.
  • As a catalyst for alcohol dehydration in the Claus process.
  • As a catalyst in the conversion of urea to ammonia.
