General description

Celpure® P300 (Diatomaceous earth, DE) is natural amorphous silica formed from the fossilized skeletons of diatoms.[1] It is extracted, crushed, dried and calcined with or without flux material. DE is widely used as filler in construction materials, paints and as an anti-caking agent for agricultural chemicals.[2] It has high water and oil absorption ability.[1] The potential toxicity of different samples of DE has been assessed.[3] DE is also employed as an adsorbent for column chromatography.[4]

Application

Celpure® P300 has been used used in the column chromatographic isolation and extraction of testosterone and corticosterone from freeze-dried water dragon plasma samples.[5]
