General description

Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate is hydrated salt of magnesium sulfate. It is hygroscopic in its anhydrous form. It can be used as a hydrophilic additive and as a catalyst in organic synthesis.

Application

Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate is used:
  • As an effective, catalyst for the condensation of o-phenylenediamine and 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds at room temperature.
  • As a catalyst in the synthesis of tri/tetra-substituted imidazoles from wide range of aromatic aldehydes, benzil, aliphatic and aromatic primary amines and ammonium acetate.
  • In the preparation of amorphous magnesium borates of various composition by interacting with sodium borate decahydrate.

Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate may be used as a catalyst for the condensation of o-phenylenediamines with 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds to form phenazine and quinoxaline derivatives. It may also be used as a catalyst along with indium (III) triflate for the synthesis of tri/tetra-substituted imidazoles.

The pro-longevity enzyme SIRT6 regulates various metabolic pathways. Gene expression analyses in SIRT6 heterozygotic mice identify significant decreases in PPARα signaling, known to regulate multiple metabolic pathways. SIRT6 binds PPARα and its response element within promoter regions and activates gene transcription.

Protocols

Measure luciferase activity using a luminometer assay detecting light emission, with applications in ATP detection and genetic function reporting.

To measure 5′-nucleotidase activity, this procedure uses adenosine 5’-monophosphate and a color reagent to create a standard curve for determining the micromoles of phosphorus liberated.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
