General description

SEC11A (SEC11 homolog A, signal peptidase complex subunit) codes for the SPC18 (signal peptidase complex 18) protein. SPC18 is a subunit of the signal peptidase complex (SPC). It is located on human chromosome 15q25.2.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

SPC18 (signal peptidase complex 18) plays a major role in the endoplasmic reticulum‐Golgi secretory pathway. It controls the secretion of several secretory proteins. SPC18 also modulates the phosphorylation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and regulates downstream targets.
