General description

Research area: Cell Cycle

Human PDGFRbeta (GenBank Accession No. NM_002609), cytoplasmic domain, amino acids 558-1106 (end) with N-terminal His-tag, MW= 62 kDa, expressed in Sf9 cells via a Baculovirus expression system.

Platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) belongs to subclass III of receptor tyrosine kinases. The PDGFR exists as two isoforms, PDGFa and PDGFb-receptors, consisting of five extracellular immunoglobulin (Ig) loops and an intracellular tyrosine kinase (TK) domain.

Application

Useful for the study of enzyme kinetics, screening inhibitors, and selectivity profiling.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The PDGFβ receptor is involved in the development of the kidney, heart, placenta, blood vessels, and cardiovascular system. It also helps to regulate interstitial fluid pressure in tissues thus preventing edema. The activation of the PDGFβ receptor plays a crucial role in the process of wound healing. In addition to these functions, its overexpression is related to gastric cancer.
