Galactose contains d-galactopyranose (C6H12O6), which is obtained either as one of the products of the metabolism of lactose, a naturally occurring sugar in dairy products, by the digestive enzyme lactase, or from arabinogalactans isolated from a plant-derived source.

Application

Galactose USP reference standard intended for use in specified quality tests and assays.

Also used to prepare standard, standard solution A, standard solution B, standard stock, and system suitability solution for assay during thin-layer chromatography (TLC) identification test according to the given below monographs of United States Pharmacopeia (USP):
  • Galactose
  • Guar Gum
  • Lactulose Concentrate
  • Ganoderma Lucidum Fruiting Body Powder
