2-Phenoxyethanol is commonly used as an anesthetic in fisheries and aquaculture applications.

2-Phenoxyethanol may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations and anesthetized fish using chromatography techniques.
