CTCFL (CCCTC-binding factor (zinc finger protein)-like) gene encodes a protein that is expressed specifically by testis. It is a paralog of CTCF, a DNA binding protein, but varying in amino and carboxy termini. It is expressed in a mutually exclusive manner with CTCF during male germ cell development.

Anti-CTCFL antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . CTCFL (CCCTC-binding factor (zinc finger protein)-like) serves as a potential candidate for the epigenetic reprogramming factor in the male germ line. It is important in chromatin organization and gene expression. DNA methyltransferase 1 and 3B recruit CTCFL protein and regulate histone dimethylation, resulting in the control of BAG-1 (Bcl-2-binding protein) expression.
