General description

N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) is widely used to compose the solvent mixtures for cellulose. Static and dynamic light scattering studies of the cellulose dissolved in varying concentrations of DMAc/LiCl mixtures have been reported.

application

N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) has been employed as an organic solvent for the liquid-phase exfoliation of pristine graphene from bulk graphite.
It may be used to compose the solvent system along with lithium chloride (LiCl) for the dissolution of commercial rayon grade cellulose. DMAc/LiCl solvent mixtures have been used for the preparation of chitin, cellulose and polyimide fibers and films.
N,N-Dimethylacetamide may be used in the preparation of α-lithio N,N-dimethylacetamide. DMAc along with palladium chloride forms an efficient catalytic system for the oxidation of several internal olefins to carbonyl compounds without undergoing isomerization.
