General description

Molybdenum disilicide exhibits thermal stability, excellent oxidation resistance, and good electrical conductivity. The high melting point of 1870-2030 °C suggests it can withstand extremely high temperatures without undergoing phase changes ordegradation. Owing to its exceptional properties it is widely explored in the field of heating elements, furnaces, and aerospace components. High purity of ≥99% trace metals basis facilitates its use in electrode materials for Lithium oxide batteries. It is also utilized as an efficient cocatalyst for solar hydrogen production.

Application

  • Single-Crystal MoO3 Micrometer and Millimeter Belts Prepared from Discarded Molybdenum Disilicide Heating Elements.: This study explores the utilization of discarded molybdenum disilicide heating elements to synthesize single-crystal MoO3 belts. These materials exhibit high thermal stability and potential applications in high-temperature oxidation resistance and energy storage devices (Hou et al., 2018).
  • Highly Concentrated Si1-xCx Alloy with an Ordered Superstructure.: The research investigates Si-C alloys with ordered superstructures, highlighting their potential as high-temperature semiconductors. This material′s high thermal resistance and electronic properties make it suitable for advanced semiconductor applications (Qin et al., 2003).
