Gene Information

General description

Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter 1 (ENT1), also known as Equilibrative nitrobenzylmercaptopurine riboside-sensitive nucleoside transporter, Equilibrative NBMPR-sensitive nucleoside transporter, Nucleoside transporter, es-type, or Solute carrier family 29 member 1, and encoded by the gene SLC29A1/ENT1, is a transport membrane protein that is responsible for mediating the transport of nucleoside molecules in and out of cells. Nucleoside transporters are required for nucleotide synthesis in cells that lack de novo nucleoside synthesis pathways, and are also necessary for the uptake of cytotoxic nucleosides used for cancer and viral chemotherapies. ENT1 is spatially localized to the basolateral cell membranes and is found expressed in many organs including heart, brain, mammary glands, liver and spleen. It is up regulated in cancer cells but it is also an anti-cancer target as it is sensitive to the chemotherapeutic drugs dipyridamole and dilazep.

Immunogen

Epitope: cytoplasmic domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the cytoplasmic domain of human Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter 1. Immunogen is 80% identical to mouse and rat ENT1.

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:500-2,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter 1 in human cerebellum, human breast cancer, and human cerebral cortex tissue.
