Patient-derived lung organoids (lung PDOs) are adult tissue derived in vitro cultured “mini-lungs” that accurately replicate the histological and functional aspects of in vivo lung tissue. Lung organoids have been shown to contain all 6 major lung epithelial cell types including AEC2s, AEC1s, basal cells, club cells, goblet cells and ciliated cells. These 3D organoid models have become attractive alternatives to traditional PDX and animal lung models to study pulmonary diseases including COPD, cystic fibrosis, SARS-CoV-2, viral infections, asthma, and lung cancer. The 3dGRO® Human Lung Organoids are high quality cryopreserved cell lines derived from patient-derived xenografts, primary tumors or metastatic patient tissues from various regions of the human lung (acinar, papillary, solid, squamous, mucinous). These lung organoids are highly characterized and express lung airway markers including EPCAM, cytokeratin (CK5, CK7), acetyl-α-tubulin, surfactant proteins (SFTPB/SFTPC), TTF1, P63 and Muc5AC.
