General description

Sodium chlorite is a sodium salt. Antimicrobial activity of acidified sodium chlorite on broiler carcasses has been reported in detail.

Application

Sodium chlorite may be used in the following studies:
  • Synthesis of chlorine dioxide.
  • Oxidation of primary alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes and of the aldehydes to the corresponding carboxylic acids.
  • As hydroxylating agent for the hydroxylation of androstenedione (steroid).

Other Notes

Reagent for the oxidation of ruthenium and molybdenum sulfide
