General description

As a member of the steroid hormone superfamily, androgen receptor functions within distinctintracellular compartments to mediate cellular growth and transcriptional activation ofandrogen-regulated signaling pathways. Androgen receptor expression is broadly distributedacross a variety of normal tissue types. The anti-androgen receptor may be used as an aid toidentify carcinomas of the breast and prostate.
