General description

Recombinant Interleukin‑4 from mouse (IL‑4; mIL‑4) is expressed in Escherichia coli and supplied as a lyophilized powder. IL‑4 is a lymphokine involved in the growth and differentiation of immune cells and is commonly used in mammalian cell culture research in vitro.

Application

Recombinant mouse IL‑4 has been used as a supplement in mammalian cell culture media, including class switch recombination assays and immune‑related in vitro research studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin‑4 (IL‑4) is an immunomodulatory cytokine that supports growth and differentiation of mmunologically competent cells. Recombinant mouse IL‑4 has been widely studied in cell‑based research models involving lymphocyte signaling, differentiation, and cytokine‑mediated cellular responses and VEGF‑induced and bFGF‑induced angiogenesis.
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a lymphokine with profound effects on the growth and differentiation of immunologically competent cells. IL-4 is also known as B cell stimulatory factor-1 (BSF-1), T cell growth factor-2 (TCGF-2) and mast-cell growth factor-2 (MCGF-2). Inhibits VEGF-induced and FGF-Basic-induced angiogenesis. IL-4 is a complex glycoprotein released by a subset of activated T cells. Treatment of IL-4 with specific glycosidases yields an active polypeptide. Human and mouse IL-4 share 50% amino acid sequence homology, but their biological actions are species-specific.

Physical form

Lyophilized, 0.2 μm filtered, with no additives.

Analysis Note

The proliferative activity is tested in culture using mouse HT-2 cells.
