General description

Rhodamine B is a xanthene dye,[1] which functions as a water tracer fluorescent. It is used as a colorant in textiles and food stuffs. Rhodamine B is associated with eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation.[2] It is used as a biomarker in oral rabies vaccine.[3]

Application

Rhodamine B has been used:
  • to represent fluorescence of tetra methyl rhodamine (TMR)[4]
  • in the preparation of adhesive resin for confocal laser scanning microscopy[5]
  • as a fluorescent dye in intrahemolymph dye dosing and retinal image acquisition[6]
  • to depict brain-specific dye capture[7]
  • for imaging targets[8]
