General description

Native thrombin-activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor from human liver. Single chain glycoprotein synthesized in the liver. ctivated by the thrombin/thrombomodulin complex by proteolytic cleavage at Arg92. Circulates in plasma as a zymogen at a concentration of about 50 nM. Believed to play an important role in the interaction between procoagulant, anticoagulant, and fibrinolytic systems.
