General description

Galectin-3 belongs to the galectin gene family, which is defined by the specificity of a carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) for Gal/Lac. Galectin-3 expression is usually elevated in a wide range of neoplastic cell types. The galectin CRD consists of 135 amino acids. Galectin-3 is known to play a role in tumor development, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes the Pro64 mutation domain of Galectin-3. It is equally specific for wild-type or mutant His64 Galectin-3.

Immunogen

Epitope: Pro64 mutation domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the Pro64 mutation domain of human Galectin-3.

Application

Research Category
Apoptosis & Cancer

This Anti-Galectin-3 Antibody is validated for use in WB for the detection of Galectin-3.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in MG-63 cell lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: A 1:250 dilution of this antibody detected Galectin-3 in 10 µg of MG-63 cell lysate.
