General description

Iscove′s Modified Dulbecco′s Medium contains selenium, additional amino acids and vitamins, sodium pyruvate, 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid (HEPES) buffer, and potassium nitrate instead of ferric nitrate, and is a modification of Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s medium (DME). Iscove′s medium can be used to support murine B lymphocytes, bone marrow hemopoietic tissue, B cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide, T lymphocytes, and various hybrid cells.

Application

Iscove′s Modified Dulbecco′s Medium has been used to culture:
  • human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell line HepG2 as monolayers
  • to culture synovial tissue samples
  • bacterial strain inoculum for stimulation of immune cell experiments
