General description
The water-specific channel Aquaporin 4 is located in various tissues including the gastro intestinal tract, kidney and brain. It is an osmoreceptor which regulates body water balance and mediates water flow within the central nervous system. The localization of AQ4 to astrocyte endfeet makes it an excellent marker for astrocyte distal processes.
Specificity
Recognizes Aquaporin 4.
The antibody has not yet been tested for cross-reactivity to other species. The immunogen shows 94% similarity to mouse, 88% to bovine, 86% to rabbit and 82% to human AQP4 (hAQP4).
Immunogen
Epitope: C-Terminus
Synthetic Linear Peptide
Application
Anti-Aquaporin 4 Antibody is an antibody against Aquaporin 4 for use in WB.

The homeostasis of the central nervous system is maintained by the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Angiopoietins (Ang-1/Ang-2) act as antagonizing molecules to regulate angiogenesis, vascular stability, vascular permeability and lymphatic integrity. However, the precise role of angiopoietin/Tie2 signaling at the BBB

The serine protease tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) is used as a thrombolytic agent in the management of ischemic stroke, but concerns for hemorrhagic conversion greatly limits the number of patients that receive this treatment. It has been suggested that the

Astrocyte communication is typically studied by two-dimensional calcium ion (Ca2+) imaging, but this method has not yielded conclusive data on the role of astrocytes in synaptic and vascular function. We developed a three-dimensional two-photon imaging approach and studied Ca2+ dynamics
