General description

This Certified Reference Material (CRM) is produced and certified in accordance with ISO 17034 and ISO/IEC 17025. All information regarding the use of this CRM can be found on the certificate of analysis.

Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards.

Hydroxyproline, found exclusively in collagen, is formed from the hydroxylation of proline. It is used as a biomarker to measure the collagen content of various biological samples.

Application

This pharmaceutical secondary standard can also be used as follows:

  • Multi-analysis of acetylcarnitine, proline, hydroxyproline, citrulline, and arginine as possible biomarkers by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in human plasma samples
  • Simultaneous determination of proline and hydroxyproline in plasma samples by (LC-MS/MS using a new fluorescent reagent for pre-column derivatization
  • Development of a micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) method to measure hydroxyproline in various dairy products upon in-capillary derivatization
  • Quantitative analysis of free prolyl dipeptides, proline, and hydroxyproline by flow-gated capillary electrophoresis combined with laser-induced fluorescence detector from unhydrolyzed urine samples

Other Notes

Natural constituent of animal structural proteins such as collagen and elastin.

Analysis Note

These secondary standards offer multi-traceability to the USP, EP and BP primary standards, where they are available.

Unhydrolyzed prolyl hydroxyproline (Pro-Hyp) and total 4-hydroxyproline (Hyp) in urine have been suggested as disease biomarkers for bone turnover and osteoporosis. Here, a rapid method was developed to accurately and selectively determine free prolyl compounds in unhydrolyzed urine samples. Urine
