General description

SSC Buffer powder is a standard reagent in Southern and Northern blotting procedures. This powder can be used to make SSC working solutions with concentrations ranging from 0.5x to 20x.

Suitable for:
  • Preparing nucleic acids for hybridization
  • Hybridization buffer for Northern and Southern blots
  • Washing buffer for Northern and Southern blots

SSC Buffer powder contains 0.3 M sodium citrate in 3M NaCl.

Preparation Note

Dissolve 263.5 g in a final volume of 1L molecular biology grade water. The resulting 20x concentrate is approximately pH 7, and can be further diluted with water, as needed.
