Carbachol, a synthetic derivative of choline, is a highly efficient miotic agent, which can be used for a long-term therapy of non-congestive wide-angle glaucoma. Its mode of action is primarily stimulating muscarinic receptors and releasing acetylcholine at certain neuroeffector junctions and ganglia.
